1989-Present: Private Practice, Psychologist. Treats individuals, families, couples from pre-teens to geriatric. Helps people overcome life’s adversities and learn to thrive. Works with a full range of issues such as: depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, intimacy/relationship issues, survivors of abuse, and grief, specializing in relationships, parenting, infidelity, eating disorders and addictions.
2009-Present: Lead Family Therapist at Seasons Recovery Center, in Malibu, CA. Runs large groups with residents and family members and works intensively with individual families.
1989-Present: Speaker. Has given numerous talks locally and nationally to a variety of audiences on several topics such as: healthy boundaries in the workplace, the over/underachiever, coping with holiday stress, healing the sensitive heart, and shame.
2003-2005: Radio show host, Shrink Rap, on KCSN, 88.5 fm. Show addressed multiple topics related to psychological well-being.
2002-Present: Media Expert. Appears regularly on national television and radio as a guest expert on a variety of topics. Also writes a column, Dear Dr. Debra, quoted frequently in many national magazines, and contributes articles to numerous sources. (see bio and media credits for more details)
2003-Present: Published author of 4 books, Don’t Call Me A Drama Queen! A Guide for the Overly Sensitive and Their Significant Others Who Need to Learn How to Lighten Up and Go With the Flow (Alyson, 2008), Dump That Chump! From Doormat to Diva in Only Nine Steps—A Guide to Getting Over Mr. Wrong (Harper Collins, 2007), Healing the Sensitive Heart (Adams Media, 2003) and Your Boss Is Not Your Mother (Agate, 2006), and two CDs, Creating Healthy Boundaries in the Workplace and The Abuser Friendly Syndrome.
1990’s: Provided psychological services (consultation, evaluation, and psychotherapy with individuals, groups and multifamily-groups) in a variety of hospitals (e.g. Van Nuys Community Hospital, CPC Westwood Hospital, Los Angeles Doctors Hospital) treating adolescents and adults with a range of disorders. |
